petition <1SA1 -17> Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and

God of Israel grant [thee] thy {petition} that thou hast asked of

him.

what [is] thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall
be

performed.



petition Then answered Esther, and said, My {petition}
and

my request [is];



petition If I have found favour in the sight of the
king,

and if it please the king to grant my {petition}, and to perform
my

request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall

prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king



hath said.



petition And the king said again unto Esther on the
second

day at the banquet of wine, What [is] thy {petition}, queen
Esther?

and it shall be granted thee: and what [is] thy request? and it

shall be performed, [even] to the half of the kingdom.





petition Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I

have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the
king,

let my life be given me at my {petition}, and my people at my

request:



petition And the king said unto Esther the queen, The

Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the

palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the
rest

of the king's provinces? now what [is] thy {petition}? and it



shall be granted thee: or what [is] thy request further? and it

shall be done. p etition All the presidents of the



kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the



captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute,
and



to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a {petition} of
any



God or m an for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be
cast



into the den of lions. petition Then they came near,
and



spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not



signed a decree, that every man that shall ask [a {petition}] of
any



God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be
cast



into the



den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing [is] true,

according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth
not.



p etition Then answered they and said before the king,



That Daniel, which [is] of the children of the captivity of
Judah,



regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed,



but maketh his {petition} three times a day.
