people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.

but the people escaped.

then send not unto thee, and show it thee;

if it please my father [to do] thee evil, then I will show it
thee,

said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?

whereby {Jonathan} knew that it was determined of his father to
slay
David.
