Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent

unto

{Babylon} to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,

babylon <JER29 -4> Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of

Israel,

unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be

carried away from Jerusalem unto {Babylon};

babylon <JER29 -10> For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy

years be accomplished at {Babylon} I will visit you, and perform

my

good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

babylon <JER29 -15> Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised

us up

prophets in {Babylon};

babylon <JER29 -20> Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all

ye

of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to {Babylon}:

which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver

and he shall slay them before your eyes;

LORD;

Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of

{Babylon}, and he shall burn it with fire:

shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine

eyes

shall behold the eyes of the king of {Babylon}, and he shall

speak

with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.

instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king

and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there

[any] word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said

he,

thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of {

you,

nor against this land?

thou shalt cause this city to be burned with fire.

the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of {Babylon} and all

army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

n him.

Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew

all the nobles of Judah.

concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard,

saying,

babylon <JER40 -1> The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD,

after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go

from

Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that

were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which

were carried away captive unto {Babylon}.

babylon <JER40 -4> And now, behold, I loose thee this day from

the

chains which [were] upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to

come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee:

if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into {Babylo

n}, forbear: behold, all the land [is] before thee: whither it

seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.

 it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the

guard

gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.

of {Babylon} had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the

land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and chi

ldren, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried

away captive to Babylon;

[were] in the fields, [even] they and their men, heard that the

king

the

ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam

the

son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of

{Babylon} had made governor over the land.

babylon <JER41 -18> Because of the Chaldeans: for they were

afraid

of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah

the

son of Ahikam, whom the king of {Babylon} made governor in the

land.

babylon <JER42 -11> Be not afraid of the king of {Babylon}, of

whom

ye are afraid; be not afraid of him, saith the LORD: for I [am]

with

you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.

babylon <JER43 -3> But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on

against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans,

that

they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into

{Babylon}.

the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar

the

king of {Babylon}, my servant, and will set his throne upon these

stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal

 pavilion over them.

forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats

before the flocks.

against {Babylon} an assembly of great nations from the north

country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from

thence she shall be taken: their arrows [shall be] as of a mighty

 expert man; none shall return in vain.

babylon <JER50 -13> Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall

not be

inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth

by

{Babylon} shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows:

for

she hath sinned against the LORD.

handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the

oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and

shall flee every one to his own land.

babylon <JER50 -17> Israel [is] a scattered sheep; the lions have

driven [him] away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him;

and

last this Nebuchadrezzar king of {Babylon} hath broken his bones.

babylon <JER50 -18> Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the

God

of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of {Babylon} and his

land,

as I have punished the king of Assyria.

babylon <JER50 -23> How is the hammer of the whole earth cut

asunder

and broken! how is {Babylon} become a desolation among the

nations!

babylon <JER50 -24> I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art

also

taken, O {Babylon}, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and

also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.

babylon <JER50 -28> The voice of them that flee and escape out of

the land of {Babylon}, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the

LORD

our God, the vengeance of his temple.

babylon <JER50 -29> Call together the archers against {Babylon}:

all

ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none

thereof

escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all

that

she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been prou

d against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

babylon <JER50 -34> Their Redeemer [is] strong; the LORD of hosts

[is] his name: he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may

give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of {Babylon}.

babylon <JER50 -35> A sword [is] upon the Chaldeans, saith the

LORD,

and upon the inhabitants of {Babylon}, and upon her princes, and

upon her wise [men].

babylon <JER50 -42> They shall hold the bow and the lance: they

[are] cruel, and will not show mercy: their voice shall roar like

the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, [every one] put in

array,

like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of {Ba

bylon}.

babylon <JER50 -43> The king of {Babylon} hath heard the report

of

them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, [and]

pangs as of a woman in travail.

babylon <JER50 -45> Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD,

that

he hath taken against {Babylon}; and his purposes, that he hath

purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of

the

flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make [their]

 habitation desolate with them.

earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.

babylon <JER51 -1> Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up

against {Babylon}, and against them that dwell in the midst of

them

that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

shall

fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they

shall be against her round about.

the time of the LORD'S vengeance; he will render unto her a

recompense.

her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his

device [is] against {Babylon}, to destroy it; because it [is] the

vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.

for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake

covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompenses shall surely

requite.

burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the

in the fire, and they shall be weary.

Zedekiah the king of Judah into {Babylon} in the fourth year of

reign. And [this] Seraiah [was] a quiet prince.

forth out of prison,
